Structured sessions

Beyondthe hour.

Train Unique California isn't limited to a one-hour fitness model. For some athletes, strength and conditioning is the whole point. For others, the bigger need is structure, routine, consistency, social interaction, and meaningful time in the community. Depending on the athlete’s interests, goals, support needs, and approved services, a session can run two to three hours.

  • Two to three hours
  • Fitness, recreation, mentorship, and community activities
  • Same coach the whole way through
  • Long Beach and the Corona area

What a longer session looks like

Fitness, and the rest of the day.

A longer session combines adaptive fitness, recreation, community integration, mentorship, and a predictable routine. Same coach the whole way through. Part of it is on the floor. Part of it is out in the community, doing the ordinary things a day is made of. That might mean practicing a familiar gym routine, then going bowling or playing pool while working on communication, decision-making, patience, and taking part. The goal is meaningful time the athlete enjoys, not just filling hours.

It's built for the athlete who does better with a day that has a shape: a start, a plan, a person they know, and an end they can see coming. Aging out of school takes that shape away from a lot of young adults. A longer session can help put some of it back.

A start. A plan.
A person they know.

Who it's for

No fitness goal required.

Your athlete doesn't need a fitness goal to belong here. Some come to get stronger. Others come for the routine, the consistency, and a place where they're part of the group. One athlete may be working toward real strength gains. Another may be lifting five pounds, walking on a treadmill, shooting a basketball, learning to follow a routine, or just getting more comfortable and independent out in the community.

We’re not trying to turn every athlete into a bodybuilder. The goal is to meet each person where they are and keep them moving toward their own version of better, one step at a time.

Kids, teens, and adults, ages 5 and up, with intellectual, developmental, and physical disabilities. Fun Fit for ages 5 to 12, one-to-one training for 13 and up, and longer sessions for the athletes who need them.

How it fits in a plan

Community Integration Supports.

For families in the Self-Determination Program, community-based support like this may fit Community Integration Supports when the activities and goals meet that service’s requirements. The SDP doesn’t require regional center vendorization for providers like us, but the services have to fit the participant’s IPP and spending plan, and approvals and FMS onboarding have to be finished before funded sessions begin.

Not in the SDP yet, or not sure what road you're on? The funding page walks through it in plain language.
